"First Home"
I took a picture of my son's first home and decided to try to make a wallhanging of it.  This was my first departure from doing dog portraits.  It also represents a shift in my work: using paint for the details, concentrating on the whole compoistion and not just the main subject, and trying other free motion stitches than just the stippling stitch.

"Her First Home"

This is a picture of my daughter's first home. It also represents another shift in my work, I gave much thought and planned the free-motion stitching I used in the composition.

Coneflowers- A rite of passage?

What is it about the coneflower and quilters? Is it a rite of passage in quilting? Several books I have read, blogs and websites visited, usually showcase one quilt with coneflowers. Here is my version of a coneflower themed quilt.

The Kayaker

The  Kayaker is my first attempt of doing a person as my subject in a wallhanging.  Also, I decided to outline with stitching the edges of the material of the main subject and not fill it in with stitches.  I tried to stitch the water to make it look like ripples as the kayak glided through it.

Grandma and Me

Grandma and Me is my first real attempt at trying to add more details to the  "whole composition".

From Darkness Comes Beauty
From Darkness Comes Beauty was my first attempt to make the stitching an integral part of the quilt.

Aah, Paradise!
Aah, Paradise! was a photo taken by my daughter on a trip she took with her husband.

Splendid Memories
Our 5500 mile road trip to Yellowstone and back home left us with many treasured sights and memories.  Splendid Memories is taken from a photograph my mother took of a moose.

Tundra Girls

Tundra Girls is based on a picture of my nieces.  My sister and her family lives in Nome, Alaska.

Unconditional Love

.There is nothing greater than the love between a child and her parents.  Unconditional Love is my first attempt at faces.

Katie

To practice making facial features, I made this pop art style portrait of my niece.

Four Generations of Love

There is nothing more precious than your daughter's wedding.  This quilt was made to celebrate that day.

 Lemonade

There is nothing worse than to have your photographer show up late on your wedding day and miss your photo session before the ceremony.  This quilt was made as a give to the bride to replace what was missed by the photographer.

Under the Red Hat

Nothing more precious than a baby sitting in a pool with nothing but a red hat.
